Cuernos del Paine, Patagonia

Added on by Bill.

This shot was taken on our first day in Torres del Paine Park.  It was a spectacular day of contrasting light, wind and cold.  But all that seemed inconsequential to the surroundings.

Geometry, People, Numbers

Added on by Bill.

I was standing on an outlook over looking the sea and the remains of an old Spanish Fort that once guarded the entrance to the port of Ancud on the island of Chiloe, Chile.  I saw the geometry of the garden and the people placed within it in two groups of three and two of four.

Markets

Added on by Bill.

Markets are an interesting place to visit no matter which city or country you are in.  They bring together a wide mix of people engaged in one thing: the trade.  Money for goods.  Why markets are so interesting stems from different sources.  Seeing interesting items;  the excitement of the crowd;   the negotiation; Looking for the "deal"; the thrill of the buy .

Architecture

Added on by Bill.

The architecture of a city expresses something about the people, the culture, the thinking.  The style they build, the diversity, what they keep and what you don't see (that has been replaced.)  Friedrich Nietzsche put it this way:

In architecture the pride of man, his triumph over gravitation, his will to power, assume a visible form. Architecture is a sort of oratory of power by means of forms.
